Myanmar Trip - Day 1 Part 2

Date: 19 October 2008
Time: 5pm (Myanmar Time)
Venue: Shwedagon Temple

Pictures in this post are not taken by my camera. I remembered I taken few shoots from my camera before the battery died but I cant find those pictures =_="

Headed to Shwedagon Temple after an hour rest in the hotel. It is one of the most beautiful temple in Yangon. It was built 2500 years ago.

Sky turns dark at 6pm. 6pm in Myanmar is like 8pm or 9pm in Malaysia =/

Burmese do not have surname. Their "surname" will be their birth day. They have certain name for each of the birth day so once they see someone's name, they know which day they are born.

There are 8 birth day corners. Why 8 days not 7? Because Wednesday is separated into morning and afternoon. Reason being Buddha's son was born in the afternoon, Buddha wants his son to be special so he divided wednesday into morning and afternoon. Each birth day has an animal to represent it.

I was born on Thursday which represent by Rat, Brother on Wednesday afternoon is a white elephant. Father on Saturday which is dragon (I think) whereas Mom on Tuesday is lioness.

Only posted up mine and brother's one because others are blur @_@

DINNER TIME! We had Myanmar food and it was good. Is almost the same like Malay food in Malaysia. Red Curry Chicken and Fish. Long Bean Salad! nice! Photos are quite blur so only posted some of it.

Then, dessert. The waiter came out with a cake! Mami bought a cake for us!!! The 1 hour rest in hotel is to give some time to our tour guide to pick up the cake and send it to the restaurant! OMG I didn't expect this to happen haha! THANKS mami! XD

That's a wrap for day 1 in Yangon and we will be back again on 24th October!
