Myanmar Trip - Day 1 Part 2
Date: 19 October 2008 Time: 5pm (Myanmar Time) Venue: Shwedagon Temple Pictures in this post are not taken by my camera. I remembered I taken few shoots from my camera before the battery died but I cant find those pictures =_=" Headed to Shwedagon Temple after an hour rest in the hotel. It is one of the most beautiful temple in Yangon. It was built 2500 years ago. Sky turns dark at 6pm. 6pm in Myanmar is like 8pm or 9pm in Malaysia =/ Burmese do not have surname. Their "surname" will be their birth day. They have certain name for each of the birth day so once they see someone's name, they know which day they are born. There are 8 birth day corners. Why 8 days not 7? Because Wednesday is separated into morning and afternoon. Reason being Buddha's son was born in the afternoon, Buddha wants his son to be special so he divided wednesday into morning and afternoon. Each birth day has an animal to represent it.
